Summary/Abstract: Introduction The political relations between Turkey and Turkish Cypriot community intensified in the mid-1950s before the violent eruption of inter-communal conflict in Cyprus. The involvement of Turkey in the Cyprus dispute took place amidst the Cold War, which resulted in a process of transforming the major conflict between the Greek-Cypriot nationalist movement and British colonial administration into a Greek-Turkish politico-military confrontation at regional level and a Greek Cypriot-Turkish Cypriot contradiction at local-national level.
