Summary/Abstract: The article is an analysis of the manner of creation of femininity in publications by Klementyna Hoffmanowa, born Tańska. The assessment of the writer in the subject literature is unambiguous – on the one hand, it values her great impact in bringing up and educating Polish girls, on the other, it criticises her for archaic views on women’s roles in society. The text aims to assess if the femininity image created by Hoffmanowa is the feature holding emancipation back, or whether itis rather a set of pragmatic conclusions drawn on the basis of what is really expected of women.
