Summary/Abstract: The Dictionary of Polish Feminatives, which was published at the Department of Polish Philology, is the first lexicographical publication to exclusively capture feminatives, i.e. words vividly discussed in the public and scientific discourse, involved in diverse ideological and political disputes, evoking discussions among communicating entities, hence not easily subject to objective description. The author of the article, who is also the co-author of the dictionary, presents some of the assumptions of the lexicographic method that was used, including issues concerning the subject and the scope of the selected material and the mode of defining in the dictionary (without reference to generic masculinum). She also discusses some of the technical diffi cultiesthe lexical material posed.
