Summary/Abstract: Common meaning of the term ‘business model’ is related to the value creation process of an entity. The literature shows that there are many views on the role of the business model in financial statements. On the one hand it is considered that financial reporting based on the business model may undermine some qualitative characteristics of financial information – faithful representation and comparability. On the other hand the business model plays a significant role in the decision-making process. The report argues that the financial reporting based on the business model can facilitate the choice of anentity's accounting policy.
