Summary/Abstract: This article is an attempt to compare Polish and Georgian language politeness on the basis of acts of greetings and toasts. These formulas are an excellent material for this type of analysis because of their common use. The paper focuses mainly on the interpretation of the most commonly used phrases; stressing the problems that their users may encounter in their mutual relations; especially as the languages studied vary considerably; both historically and culturally; which has been demonstrated in this study.
