Summary/Abstract: Autotransportation is surveyed for its most dynamic development after the economy changes in Bulgaria in the 90`s. It best meets the requirements of Bulgarian economy after it adopts the market principles. A short survey of special characteristics of autotransportation is done which put it forward in comparison to the other types of transportation. The market of autotransportation services is studied as market structure according to the degree of competition. The basic pricing factors are described and the influence of Bulgarian membership in EU is observed. The effect of EU membership is also traced in basic characteristics of autotransportation – traffic loads, prices, terms of delivery, company rentability. The effect of these changes over competitiveness of trade companies is also observed.
