Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the essence of Europe 2020 strategy, its seven initiatives and the upgraded implementation model as compared to the Lisbon strategy. Author presents empirical data on the stance of the EU’s economy towards the end of the first implementation period of Europe 2020. The analysis includes conclusions on the data presented, regional differences and trends which are referred to observations by the European Commission.
