Summary/Abstract: The paper shows how Janosch adapted Grimms’ fairy tales by offering a new interpretation and introducing structural changes. His collection, which is modern and innovative in the context of German children’s and youth literature of the 1970s, is full of sarcasm and irony, and it points to a critical view of human weaknesses.
