Summary/Abstract: The truth that death can come to anyone, anytime, and anywhere has accompanied us since birth. Buddhists would say that the moment of birth is already the beginning of a dying process. Dramatically, living is akin to dying slowly every moment. Death is a big subject in Buddhism. In Vajrayana, a Tantrayana form of Buddhism in Tibet and surrounding Himalayan regions, it is covered in great depth in The Tibetan Book of the Dead. The essence of the esoteric teachings is not only about dying consciously but more about living consciously.
