Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the practices of television in Bulgaria in covering the unfolding of the COVID-19 crisis in the country. The research is centered on the central news bulletin of the Bulgarian National Television, the only public service media with national coverage, during the period 13 March – 12 April 2020, the first month of the emergency situation in the country. The methods used are observation and frame analysis of the news bulletins structure as well as analysis of the coverage of the coronavirus epidemic and its impact on the society. The expected result is to uncover the process how television news are shaping the new normal under Covid-19 in society, economy and the health care system. Based on the approaches to the theme and the communication process challenges some predictions are made on how public service TV media in Bulgaria should evolve in the near future.
