Summary/Abstract: India has adopted a neutral stance on Russia’s latest aggression on Ukraine, trying not to alienate any of its main partners, Russia or the U.S. This was well-received in Russia but undermines the foundations of India’s rapprochement with the U.S. and the EU. The top priority for the government of Narendra Modi has been the evacuation of about 20,000 Indian citizens, mostly students, from the war in Ukraine.
