Summary/Abstract: On 12 March, the first ever meeting of the leaders of Australia, India, Japan, and the U.S. in the Quad formula was held in virtual form. The leaders announced a joint vaccine initiative, as well as institutionalisation and expansion of cooperation. The summit confirmed that the Indo-Pacific is the most important direction in U.S. foreign policy and that the Quad is becoming a permanent element of the regional architecture.
