Summary/Abstract: On 30 December, the European Commission announced the conclusion of negotiations on a Comprehensive Investment Agreement (CAI) with China, which agreed, among others, to open up its market in certain sectors to European companies, although still with numerous restrictions. The entry into force of the agreement must receive consent from the European Parliament and others. The entire ratification process may take until 2022 and is not a foregone conclusion.
