Summary/Abstract: Spyware is malicious software that hides in our devices and collects information that it sends to third parties without our consent. Spyware has become the most widespread type of malware, because its target is personal information about the user and his online habits. There is a very wide range of information that can be stolen or compromised. Some of the information that is a frequent target of hackers are: information about bank accounts, search history, complete email content and personal information about the user. In addition to the information already stored on the devices, modern spyware can also take control of the microphone and camera and use them to record unauthorized images/videos/conversations, which are then sent to third parties. Spyware is so prevalent that it is estimated that over 80% of internet users have some type on their device. This is a worrying fact that says that almost all information used and stored on devices is in constant danger of misuse. Attention when downloading applications from unknown sources, as well as regular updates of the operating system and software, are one of the proven methods of preventing spyware infection of the device.
