Summary/Abstract: President Joe Biden's short stay in Berlin, lasting less than 24 hours, on October 17-18, 2024, caused quite a wide resonance. It was Biden's first such visit as president to Germany, and although it was not a state visit, but a working one, its solemn nature should be noted, resulting from, among other things, the fact that such a visit finally took place. In Berlin, the American leader met with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who was then joined by French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The talks in this group mainly concerned the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East. Biden was honored in a special way by being decorated with the highest German state decoration - the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. The prevailing opinion in the comments was that the visit should be treated as a double farewell: of President Biden to Europe and of Europeans to the last American leader representing the transatlantic generation.
