Summary/Abstract: Southeast Europe remains reliant on expensive energy imports from Russia and is ill-prepared to withstand another major supply crisis. In this respect, the completion of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) would unlock the diversification process, which will increase the energy security of the whole region. To reap the full benefits and increase competition, there is a need to complete the liberalisation, diversification and integration of the regional gas market.
