Summary/Abstract: The Russian Federation has traditionally been one of the main markets for Moldovan companies. Due to the geographic proximity, common history and the size of its internal market this destination has always held a crucial place in the exports from our country. However, with the Russian Federation external policy activation from the past decade and the change of external vector of Moldova, the political factor started to play the primary role in the bilateral trade relations. Thus, in 2006, as a reaction to the refusal of the Moldovan side to sign and implement the „Kozak Plan” for the resolution of the Transdniestrian conflict, Russia has imposed an embargo on wine exports.
