Summary/Abstract: By ratifying the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and other legal instruments, BiH assumed the responsibility to ensure equality between men and women in all spheres of life, according to international law on the protection of universal human rights. However, much more needs to be done to make this goal a reality in women's lives. Almost a decade after the adoption of the Law on Gender Equality in BiH in 2003, and the adoption of the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination in 2009, reality shows that, although discrimination is prohibited and legal remedies are available to victims, unfair treatment does not stop. Discrimination against women is structural and horizontal in nature and permeates all cultures and communities, as well as all sectors, levels and areas of life. Women are often discriminated against for various reasons, and it is important to fight against discrimination against women in a systematic and comprehensive way in order to achieve full and real gender equality. Achieving gender equality is crucial for the protection of human rights, the functioning of democracy, respect for the rule of law, and economic growth and competitiveness. By creating this analysis, we wanted to point out the specifics and problems that women face in various spheres of life, which lead to real and tangible differences in the treatment of women and access to rights in accordance with the current regulations on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
