Summary/Abstract: The proposals under discussion for a Single Banking Resolution Regulation establishing a centralised mechanism for countries participating in the Single Supervisory Mechanism and a Resolution Directive are generally well designed and coherent. Yet there is a need to streamline the procedures for deciding the start of resolution and managing the subsequent action, which now entail much overlap in the powers attributed to the institutions involved (the Commission, the Single Resolution Board and the European Central Bank).
