Short Description
Studenckie Prace Prawnicze, Administratywistyczne i Ekonomiczne (Student Journal of Law, Administration and Economics) draws on the tradition of Prace Prawnicze (Law Papers) published in the 1960s on the initiative of students from the Faculty of Law, University of Wrocław. It was a unique publication at the time, featuring scholarly papers by students. The concept of publishing papers by young scholars was revived in the 21st century, a decision that was certainly influenced by a revival of the student research movement as well as the need to document the results of the students’ various research initiatives.
Changes in the structure of the course of study (including, in particular, doctoral studies being recognised at the third level of studies) and in the structure of the Faculty of Law, which is now called Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics have led to a change of the title as well as the nature of articles published in Studenckie Prace Prawnicze, Administratywistyczne i Ekonomiczne. Readers will find them articles based on papers delivered at conferences by undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students of the Faculty as well as the Faculty’s guests coming to Wrocław to take part in international conferences or thanks to scholarships granted by international foundations. The journal also features papers submitted for publication and prepared as part of doctoral seminars, i.e. papers that herald future doctoral dissertations. As it turns out, Studenckie Prace Prawnicze, Administratywistyczne i Ekonomiczne has documented the first steps in the academic careers of lecturers workings at several higher education institutions. The title, Studenckie Prace Prawnicze, Administratywistyczne i Ekonomiczne (Student Papers in Law, Administration and Economics), clearly indicate that the papers published in the journal concern various disciplines and discuss a broad spectrum of topics. The Editorial Board and Editorial Committee seek to maintain thematic consistency set by e.g. titles of international conferences organised at the Faculty, although this is not always possible, as the student research movement at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics is characterised by a high number and variety of research societies active at the Faculty, and the frequency of publication means that best papers have to be selected, a process facilitated by internal and external (from outside the Faculty and outside the University of Wrocław) reviewers. The Editorial Committee, editor of the journal and the Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego publishing house do their best to make sure that the papers published in the journal meet the high requirements imposed on scholarly publications.
