BEH belongs to those research periodicals that stick to open access model. BEH is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access. This model provides greater reach of interested readers to the published articles.

In the beginning all volumes appear first as a list with titles of the papers. The names of the authors are hidden to preserve the anonymity during the peer-review process. At this stage the articles can have relevant abstracts and keywords, but not a pdf documents in a final version. In this phase, papers were only selected selected and are pending for review and other editorial procedures. Articles in pdf are available for download only after final updating - when they already passed the whole editorial process and are agreed with the authors. When this process end, the link becomes active and pdf available for download.

Important note for authors: Until the volume 10 (issue 4), the journals was published equally in electronic and hard print format. Since that volume the main publication format is electronic/online.
