Short Description
In 2003 in the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw we had an idea to establish an area for presentation of the theoretical achievements of Polish science and art. Thus, the rectors of the Academy decided to start publishing a periodical – DYSKURS, A Scientific-Artistic Letter. The initial determination of the letter’s tasks turned out to be a development of its conception. We assumed that what is fundamental for our Academy and is the essence of an art school, is art itself in its material dimension. However, being aware of the obvious fact that any rational human activity (and there is no exception for art here) deserves a theoretical reflection and that without such a reflection both studying art and the informed participation in it is not possible, we realised that promotion of both the local and nationwide achievements is an urgent demand, and that we should give it a proper social dimension. Our deep conviction is that, especially in art, praxis is to express conscious attitude to what was before and what will be after it. In other words: to what is theoretical to art. We want our magazine to become an important nationwide platform for exchanging ideas about art and therefore an element of co-creation of the common good, which is undoubtedly the humanistic dimension of man's creative presence in the world. We invite all those analysing problems of the works of art and art as such - in their ontological, epistemological, axiological aspects - as well as all those approaching these issues from the sociological and psychological perspective. Since 2006 the magazine has a nationwide range, publishes only articles reviewed and subject to the parametric evaluation Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Editors: Andrzej P. Bator (editor in chief) Elizabeth Łubowicz (assistant editor) Kostolowski Andrzej Zbigniew Makarewicz, Karol Maliszewski (literary editor), Dorothy Miłkowska, Przemek Pintal, A.
