The idea of the Journal was formulated by Belarusian community of political scientists and analysts in 2010. It is conceived as an independent academic initiative. BPSReview was founded by the Consortium of Belarusian, Lithuanian, Ukrainian and Latvian organizations, bringing together the experience of a broad academic community and institutions devoted to promoting and advancing research in political science and political analysis. Belarusian Political Science Review is a peer-reviewed political science periodical that serves as an interdisciplinary publication for research papers from various subfields of political science. The publication aims to meet the needs of a broader academic community in scientific enquiry on Belarusian politics and politics of Eastern and Central Europe. The Journal publishes research materials on all key topics and related to all approaches of political science without any methodological restrictions except for reasonable scholar criteria. The regional focus of the Journal is Belarus, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Latvia and Estonia. General editorial policy: The contents of the Review are to be compiled of the best articles published by Belarusian political and social scientists initially in Belarusian or Russian through a year. The articles shall be initially proposed by members of the Academic Board or any well- known scholars or analysts. The Journal of political studies – The Palitychnaja Sfera (Political Sphere) was founded in 2001 by a young generation of Belarusian political scientists. In 2001-2005 the Journal was published on the base of Political Science Department of the Belarusian State University (Minsk, Belarus) In 2005 the Journal moved to the European Humanities University in exile (Vilnius, Lithuania). It has happened because of increasing suppression in Belarusian academic field. At present time The Palitychnaja Sfera (Political Sphere) is the only professional journal of political studies in Belarus. The Journal serves as a communication platform for Belarusian political scientists and researchers working in other disciplines. The general aims of the Journal are as follows: - Encouraging the study of Belarusian politics; - Stimulation of research and analytical activities in Belarus; - Integration of Belarusian scientists in international academic community. The objectives of the Journal are: - to represent achievements of Belarusian political science without political and ideological limitations; - to maintain a dialog between political scientists and public and private institutions which concerns the issues of political and social development of Belarus; - to overcome negative consequences of authoritarian rule for academic community and society in Belarus. The Palitychnaja Sfera (Political sphere) is not only the Journal but it is also a community of Belarusian political and social scientists with its own seminars and research projects. The community is predominantly critical to authoritarian power in Belarus.
