Part of a bigger enterprise, this is an inquiry into the media and media-reinforced cultural mythology of the United States in the post-Cold War globalization era. The format is the “critical glossary” or “lexicon” made famous by a number of authors, most famously—in recent critical theory—by Roland Barthes. Basically, the glossary below represents one possible attempt to imagine how Barthes’s Mythologies might look like if one rewrote it with the 21st-century U. S. as its focus. The methodology of counter-mythography developed below represents, in this context, both an extension and a critical retooling of Barthes’s approach.

RASDAQ Market was launched in Romania in 1996, appeared as a mirroring of the well-established American market NASDAQ (which stood for National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations). The role designated for RASDAQ was as platform for valuing papers issued in the privatization program in Romania (mass privatization process - MPP). In fact the participating companies to MPP had the legal obligation, under first Romanian Capital Market Law, No 52/1194, to be listed on a stock exchange. Although it attended a US regulatory model, RASDAQ had to adapt to European rules with the accession of Romania to the European Union. The relevant EU rules (i.e., Directive 2004/39/EC on markets in financial instruments – MiFID, about to be replaced by Directive 2014/65/EU – MiFID II) provide for only two types of trading systems, i.e. regulated markets and multilateral trading facilities (MTF), while the RASDAQ Market securities fall under none of these two trading systems regulated by MiFID1. After an entire decade of uncertainty concerning the status of the RASDAQ, Romanian legislator settled the situation of shares traded on this market. This regulation means the end for RASDAQ. Law No. 151/2014 provides that the RASDAQ Market is to be closed within twelve months as of the effective date of such law (October 27, 2014). To this end companies listed on the RASDAQ Market will have to opt for listing on a regulated market or on a MTF or for becoming private companies. Such option rests on the hands of shareholders. Going private asks for shareholders’ rights protection so Romanian Financial Supervisory Authority (FSA) provides a procedure implementing the right to withdraw from the company of the dissenting shareholders and for computing compensation for their shares (FSA Regulation No. 17/2014).

The proper way of defending philosophy’s right to existence in our society is not by arguing its public utility in terms of epistemological or intellectual gain among modern sciences, but by positing that, at its beginning, philosophy implied a certain equality based on a culture of dialogue. It is important, of course, to distinguish this inaugural philosophical state from the way philosophy has been taught and learnt throughout history. However, following some of Jacques Rancière’s ideas about politics and emancipatory education, we should acknowledge that a form of equality in reason we can call “philosophy” underlies all social bonds. Consequently, considering two crucial domains of our public life – education and politics –, the ethical importance of philosophy comes from the fact that it reveals the primary equality that is to be placed, paradoxically, underneath any social hierarchy such as teacher and student, ruler and subject and so on. Thus, the distribution of philosophy means neither a transfer of knowledge, nor a transfer of power which could be described in terms of “more” or “less”, but the democratic restoration of the common value of reason.

Between 2019 and 2020 a series of surface surveys were carried out in the administrative border of the Giroc commune, with the aim of identifying new archaeological sites or re-identifying those already known. This research was determined by the drafting of the Archaeological Report for the General Urban Plan of the Giroc commune, a commune formed by the localities of Giroc and Chișoda. The field walkings revealed the existence of eight archaeological sites in the vicinity of Chișoda, three of which were already published (Chișoda–1/Livezi/Tell/Termocentrală, Chișoda–2/Valul Roman and Chișoda–3) and five were unknown. 33 new sites were identified within the boundaries of the town of Giroc (one partially located within the boundaries of the town of Rudicica) and four published sites (Giroc–1, Giroc–2/Mescal, Giroc–3/La Pruni și Giroc–6/La Nemți). Taken together, all the discoveries in this area represent 45 points of archaeological interest. Chronologically, most historical eras are represented, except for the Paleolithic and the early Neolithic.

The study makes an almost exhaustive research of the context in which the General Secretariat of the Government (SGG) postponed, delayed and after a long time, refused to grant the right to use the name of the association "15 December - Day of Romanian-Hungarian Solidarity", established on December 15, 2021 by several Romanians and Hungarians. I give relevant information about the founding members, about the main ideas of the association, I delineate the stakes of its appearance and I review the steps needed to acquire legal personality, the first of which was a request to obtain the permission to use the name. I follow the evolution of the association's application to the National Council for Combating Discrimination and to the Bucharest Court of Appeal. I review the doctrine regarding the freedom of association developed through the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights to demonstrate the complete lack of legitimacy of the SGG attitude. I stress the arbitrariness and confusion that dominated the behavior of the Secretary General of the Government, Marian Neacșu, in this case where the freedom of association was violated.
