Recommendations for Strengthening Regional Governance in Romania

Regionalisation was a large debated subject in Europe in the last twenty – five years. In the last two years there was a political will in Romania to led a territorial reform aiming to strength economic competitiveness and to raise the structural funds absorption. The present article aims to fix some conceptual boundaries for a proper understanding of the subject, as well as to formulate alternatives and recommendations for the Romanian policy-makers who have intent to create administrative regions in Romania. The recommendations are based upon current theories and models identified in the literature review and upon our work experience in administrative reform.

Users’ Accessibility to Services of General Interest in Romania. A Case Study in the North-East Region

Starting from the role that services of general interest play within the territorial cohesion policy, this paper proposes a case study focusing on the sewage services, addressed from the perspective of users’ accessibility. The analysis is undertaken in the North-East region of Romania, being based on questionnaire distributed to localities of the six counties of this region. The results indicate, in general, a difficult access to the sewage services in the North-East Region of households, individuals, and businesses, both at regional and county levels. Also, important disparities at county level in terms of users’ accessibility to sewage services are highlighted.

Investments in the Romanian Economy in the Context of Globalization

This paper presents an overview of the investments in the Romanian economy and its evolution from 2006 until now. It’s also presented the dynamics of investments in total expenditure at the country level and the evolution of investments at the most important branches of the economy and it’s also shows the origin of investments (local or foreign). It’s also achieved a ranking of Romanian development regions which have made the biggest foreign investments and the countries that have invested the most in our country in the last years.

This paper presents reviews and an analysis of the policy and support mechanisms for the promotion of renewable in the Western Balkan countries, as well as an overview of the legislation and other official documents influencing the renewable energy sector. The importance of renewable energy sources, along with key information about the countries commitments to renewable energy are also summarized. The methodology used in this article consists in studying and analysing a range of published materials such as strategies, raports, policies, papers and legislation, which represent a theoretical basis for future researches.

Basarab Overpass Influence on Road Traffic in the Central Area of Bucharest. Closing the Main Ring is a Reality or Utopia?

In the last 15 years in Bucharest was trying to take measures, some based on Traffic surveys conducted in 1998 and 2008 by JICA and WSP Group. Although those were taken "measures to ease the traffic" the results delay to occur. Car traffic in Bucharest creates very serious problems in recent years. In the hours 7:30 to 9:30 and 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. most arteries are congested, congestion occurring major and temporary traffic jams. In recent studies conducted, the number of parking spaces in peripheral arteries is provided at a rate of 12% - 23%, other vehicles pull up on the street lining the roadway narrowing further. Corrupcion and the Prevention of Corrupcion. Comparative Analysis of Spain and Mexico

The corruption phenomenon is a very important one and it has direct implications over the state’s operative mode, as well as its levels of development. The corruption cases are directly reflected on reaching of a status of wellbeing, a very important desideratum for the European Union but also on a global level. Thus, this paper will define concepts and the interdependence between corruption and public ethics. To do so, we will analyse the Transparency International Reports, in order to crayon an overview of the actual level of corruption, and focusing our attention especially on famous corruption cases from Spain and Mexico. From a comparative analysis of the corruption phenomenon in the two countries we can highlight the direct effects that this phenomenon can have over the functionality of a society. Therefore, we will analyse the corruption cost but also the primary negative effects which are reflected in the development levels of a country: in Spain –„ The famous corruption case – “The City of Arts and Science from Valencia” and in Mexico- „Wal-Mart Gate”.

Gender Differences in Strategy and Human Resource Management

The purpose of this article is to gain a deeper understanding of the long-run impact of globalization on gender equality, the women’s opportunity to engage in social participation, the influence of globalization on the formal and informal norms of behavior which shape gender roles and women’s opportunities in social life, and the globalization-induced changes in the socio-economic status of women. This research makes conceptual and methodological contributions to China’s gender and law initiatives, the huge gender gaps in the literacy rate and educational attainment, the mobilization of women’s groups to work together towards shared goals and catalyze action, and the high levels of social stigma attached to transgressing norms of gender presentation. I am specifically interested in how previous research investigated the effects of globalization on gender equality, the commitment of the social-democratic welfare regime to promoting women’s labor force participation, women’s advance in the labor market, the labor market as a means of attaining gender equality, and the foundation of gender inequality in market economies.

Considerable research attention has focused on the relationship between globalization and gender equality, gender differences in labor supply and demand, the social relations of gender, the opportunities for gender-class equality, and the structuring of gender-class differences in paid and unpaid work. Applying new conceptual and methodological approaches, this study advances to the next level research on the new and emerging gender-based developments in Chinese law, the impact of the one-child policy on gender equality in education, the relationship between gender and space, and the translation of women’s human rights rhetoric into concrete action. The main objective of this paper is to explore and describe the pervasiveness of gender-based violence, the underlying reasons for gender differences in cognition in the Chinese context, and the narrowing of the gender gap in educational attainment.
