Presented work is in-depth study of the philosophical and pedagogical values of traditional Buddhism and Korean’s Confucianism. The thesis investigates them by analyzing the achievements of four outstanding representatives of the Far Eastern philosophical and religious systems: W¡nhyo, Chinul, T’oegye and Yulgok. Although they lived in different periods of Korean state development, they were prominent, well known beyond the borders of Korea humanists, amazingly consistent as to the purpose of education and self-education. The most important for them was the moral development of a man and his moral behavior achieved through continuous self-improvement. Such teleology of education, as well as other indications of educational value allow to place their views in mainstream of humanistic education and combined them with a view of philosophical, psychological and pedagogical J.H. Pestalozzi, I. Kant, W. James, C.G. Jung, A. Maslow and other representatives of modern Western humanist pedagogy.

Ideały i wartości pedagogiczne buddyjskiej szkoły Tiantai

In this paper, the pedagogical values of the Chinese school of Mahayana, Tiantai, are presented. In the first part, the author concentrates upon the origins, structure and contents of the main text of the school, The Lotus Sutra (Sutra on the White Lotus of the Sublime Dharma) and also upon the representatives of the Tiantai school, like Zhiyi, and upon the doctrine of Tiantai. In the further course, he conducted the hermeneutic research into the oldest chapters of the treatise mentioned above. He presented the ideals of upbringing, and also pedagogical values, of the Tiantai school, taking under consideration, among others, parables: about rescuing children from a burning house by father, about the return of a prodigal son, about a jewel sewn into clothes, about an enchanted city, and about the plants watered with the rain of Tathagata. The comparative analysis gives rise to the conclusion that the pedagogical values presented in the teaching of the Tiantai school are of a contemporary character, and that they correspond, in particular, with the hermeneutic method in pedagogy, the principal assumptions of humanistic psychology and pedagogy, and with the traits of upbringing discovered in the pedagogy of of 20th century. The revealed pedagogical values of the school are of a universal character, and constitute the heritage of the entire mankind

Człowiek jako źródło religii. Scott Atran i kognitywna teoria religii

This article looks at the relationships between anthropology and religion. The first part of this article examines the postulates of the anthropological philosophy of religion with the aim of showing that the adopted model of religion is a consequence of the adopted anthropology. Next, we will analyze the philosophical background of anthropological theory with Scott Atran's cognitive theory of religion. As a result, we will see the ontological, methodological and epistemological background of anthropology. The second part of this article is concerned with the analysis of the model of religion presented by Atran. We show that the way you understand what man is fully determines its creations in this religion.

Teleologia i aksjologia wychowania Weishi/Faxiang, chińskiej szkoły mahajany nawiązującej do Jogaćary

In this paper, the author seeks to determine the essence of upbringing, the ideal of upbringing, and also the values of upbringing contained in the Chinese School of Properties of Consciousness –Weishi/Faxiang. In pedagogical terms, the author considers the treatises of Yogācāra and Weishi,in particular, those which were written by Asańga, Wasubandhu, Xuangzang, and also Kuiji. The researched school of Chinese Buddhism stood out from the other ones due to its intolerant ideas, but also because of its nonconventional views relevant to the essence of Buddhist cognition, and also the possibility of achieving it. The comparative research into the doctrine of this school and contemporary pedagogy revealed, first and foremost, analogies with the following trends and directions in pedagogy: Herbartism, pedagogy of depth and phenomenological pedagogy, and also accentuated the pedagogical dilemma relevant to the significance of genes and upbringing in the development and behaviour of a human being.

Akademski glas sa margine o epohalnim dilemama koje sudbinski dijelimo

The Centre for Culture and Education "Logos" in cooperation with the Institute for Religious and Social Research and the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tuzla organized a scientific conference: "Religion, Politics, Secularism" on the 2nd and 3rd October 2020., with the participation of scientists from Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H), Croatia and Serbia. The consideration of the historical connection between religion and politics, through the meaningful understanding of secularization, contextualizes on the margins of the modern era where one can read the meaning and significance of the historical destiny of B&H and its social, religious, confessional, national, and cultural subjects. From eleven contributions from this scientific conference, only one of them (Tadic, Sljivo 2020) explicitly, and three of them implicitly (Krivak 2020, Pešić 2020, Hodžić 2020) contextualize the subject of their studies in the narrow framework of the given theme: "Religion, Politics, Secularism". The other seven contributions, although theoretically and methodologically outside of the (self)referenced, consciousepochal relationship of religion, politics, and secularization, illuminate the aspects of the problems in the question in their own way, and sometimes from a quite unexpected angle

Searching for ethical fundaments and principles of human’s economic activity, almost all popes refer to the evolutionistic justification in their papers. Almost all popes, raising a question in their encyclicals, accept so-called formal capitalism conditions, these are: private property, free market and individual entrepreneurship, not submitting any manipulations of a nation. However, the main characteristic feature for these popes is that they all agree with so-called formal capitalism conditions, but they justify them from different perspectives. They use other arguments for justifying human entrepreneurship or human freedom in an economics field, not differing from referring to formal conditions. And however, dozens of years divide all these popes - because they lived in different times and eras - and that single voice, which they use in their pontificate histories, reflects on full agreement and social education continuity of the Church as for social issues, entrepreneurship development and its functioning according to Catholic principles.

The concept of sacrificial metamorphosis in Bernini’s Saint Teresa and Orlan’s Saint Orlan

Through a profound analysis and comparison of Bernini’s Ecstasy of Saint Teresa (1647–1652) and Orlan’s The Reincarnation of Saint Orlan (1990s), the aim of this paper is to highlight distinct understandings of the idea of the sacrificial metamorphosis of the human body through the art of different cultural eras. Starting from the assumption that art is a political act, I will argue that Saint Teresa’s sacrificial transformation, in the sense of abandoning her human nature for her spiritualization, served the propaganda policy of the Catholic Church, while in Orlan’s work I aim to identify its connections to both feministic and philosophical issues. Furthermore, the quite violent character of the latter raises questions about limits in artistic expression.

GENDER THEORY AND GENDER IDEOLOGY

The social role of a person, to a large extent imposed by the person’s sex, may change. The social role is given by a social construct called gender, while sex is given biologically. Gender theory or gender studies is a branch of science exploring sex and gender. Besides and in contrast to it, there is gender ideology, or better anti-gender ideology, standing in fierce opposition to every mention of gender. Gender theory uses rational arguments, anti-gender ideology usually does not. It may be portrayed by the example of the Istanbul Convention about violence against women and domestic violence. Its topic is not gender, but it uses the word gender from time to time as a useful instrument of gender theory. However, the Convention is presented by its opponents as an instrument for spreading gender ideology. The Catholic Church or their bishops in the Czech Republic are usually of the same opinion, they are also manipulated or are the manipulators themselves. This way their opinion does not correspond to the teaching of the Vatican documents and is misleading for many Czech Catholics. Nevertheless, the influence of the Catholic bishops is diminishing in many aspects, including the question of gender.

Giuseppe Mazzotta, in defining the nature of creative energy found in the Franciscan movement, analyzes the multiple strain of the Franciscan tradition in Dante’s Comedy. He first examines how Dante responded to medieval Franciscanism by interpreting the meaning of Guido of Montefeltro in Inferno 27. He notes that in this particular character, Dante wishes to raise issues of papal power (and political theology), and most importantly trace the boundaries of the thirteenth-century debate between Franciscan theologians and secular masters. Specifically, the canto evokes the key questions of the thirteenth-century debate on the liberal arts and the Franciscan attack against logic and speculative grammar. He then turns to the cantos in which Dante refers to the Heaven of the Sun (Paradiso 10–13) and demonstrates how Dante explores further the sense of the Franciscan intellectual traditions, connecting the Divine Comedy’s concern with gifts to the Franciscan theology of spiritual gifts.

Dominik Mokoš OFM (1718 – 1776) a jeho kazateľská tvorba (Východiská a možnosti výskumu)

Dominik Mokoš (1718–1776) was a Franciscan monk and religious writer who also acted as a preacher, vicar, teacher and chronicler in the second half of the 18th century in various regions of Slovakia (such as Nižná Šebastová, Stropkov, Kremnica, Pruské, Okoličné, Beckov) or as a missionary in various areas of Šariš, Spiš, Orava and Poland. He was one of the most prolific authors of homiletic literature in the second half of the 18th century in Slovakia. In his Marian, Christmas, and Lenten preaching, we can identify intertextual references to the Bible, patristic, medieval and humanist religious literature. However, so far the preaching work of D. Mokoš has only been examined from the point of view of the history of the Slovak language. But, we would like to draw attention to the fact that, in the case of an edition of a set of selected sermons, it would be possible to examine them from several points of view. For exaple such as literary communications, documents of re-catholization, etc.

„Svatí z katakomb“ v kostele Narození Páně v pražské Loretě

The text deals with two figural reliquaries of the early Christian martyrs St. Felicissimus and St. Marcia brought from the Roman catacombs and donated to the Prague pilgrimage site Loreto. The text focuses on the acquisition of the relics, the circumstances of their transfer to Prague and the public veneration through liturgical celebrations. The second part of the article discusses in more detail the translation of the relics of St. Felicissimus, which took place on the occasion of the presence of Charles VI in Prague on the occasion of his coronation as King of Bohemia in 1723. This liturgical celebration of the transfer of the relics also became a celebration of the Habsburg dynasty. Similarly, the text points to the connection of this ‘new saint’ to the decoration of the place where the relics were deposited, the spirituality of the Capuchin order and the period theological teachings. The Capuchins and the founders of the Prague Loreto thus managed to combine the religious, theological, dynastic and cultural aspects.

K problému náboženskej znášanlivosti

Churches and religious societies, despite the suppression of their importance, mission and results of their pastoral and educational activities in Slovak society since the second half of the 20th century and their temporary radical revival after 1990, are in the currently ideologically enforced corporate-liberal social environment again subject to recognition, condemnation and suppression. It also applies to their representatives, their believers, their membership base. It is obvious that, on the basis of the ecumenical program born during the Second Vatican Council, even in Slovak society, the dominant Roman Catholic Church has clearly stepped out of its historical socio-paternalistic attitudes. The current policy of the Slovak particular Roman Catholic Church leads all its members and adherents to religious tolerance. Despite this, manifestations of religious tolerance in the current secularizing Slovak national community are accepted by a certain part of the so-called modernist population with a considerable amount of animosity. This opens up a vast and fragmented political space for the Slovak state authorities to regulate and eliminate the currently more aggressive manifestations of the currently living intolerance. Especially radically directed against the views of the "backward", so-called the worldview of the archaic, i.e. religiously oriented, majority of the Slovak population. The task of the current state power becomes the reduction of anti-religious and anti-church activities, rooted in and based on a destructive ideological and ideological platform that negatively affects the value orientation of the emerging West European so-called liberal-modernist generation.

On the Current State of Research in Czech Baroque Homiletics with Focus on Methodology (Past and Present Research;a Summary of Research Tasks and Issues)

The study summarizes findings by Michaela Hashemi (Horáková) on homiletic texts of the early modern age, specifically the 17th century and the first half of the 18th century, with respect to the research context of the Czech environment. The article emphasizes the use of modern methods provided by literary theory which lead to relevant results. In the first part, the author presents a description of the history and the present of domestic homiletic research; the second part defines the key terms — Baroque homiletic texts and the exemplum (conceived as a homiletic intertext). The third part concentrates on other individual research tasks and issues relating to them, first in research of homiletic text production in a single historically conceived area (specifically texts with the Cyril and Methodius theme) and then territories of several different areas of the given period (from the end of the 17th to mid-18th century) in cultural contact (the Nepomucene theme). The following sections discuss the so-called topos of the dimension of Baroque mysticism (across Baroque literature genres, in texts of both higher and lower styles). The conclusion summarizes the finding that the study of homiletic texts employs classic methods (historical and philological) alongside modern ones, primarily the concept of everyday life and intertextuality.

The Society of Jesus and the Features of Counter-Reformation Urban Planning in Eighteenth-Century Transylvania

The architecture promoted by the Jesuit Order contains a mindful construction process, which also implies features related to the urban status of their churches and colleges . Based on this concept, the following pages investigate their buildings from Transylvania. The study is part of the author’s ongoing doctoral research, regarding the construction phenomenon of Catholic Orders in the eighteenth-century Transylvania. The geographical limits were outlined on the borders of the historical Principality, thus being researched the Society’s settlements from Cluj, Sibiu, and Târgu Mureș. This study aims to explore both the intentions behind the land acquisition and development and how buildings have been perceived in these towns over the centuries. It will be concluded that all three structures were carefully designed and developed in urban areas of maximum interest, to make a confessional and political stance in the Protestant landscape of these Transylvanian cities.
