A new evangelization isn’t only a matter of the method and administered measures, so the domain of pastoral theology and pastoral care, but largely the reality demanding dogmatic reflection. According to this guideline one should read Apostolic Exhortation of the Pope Francis Evangelii gaudium. The new evangelization is based on renewed ecclesiology, which in the presented document receives specific guidance of the papal teaching. It is of even greater significance because this text constitutes the word of main assumptions of Francis’ pontificate. The Church portrayed in Evangelii gaudium is an evangelizing community and still evangelized and the basic option is the missionary commitment. The Church lives for the Gospel and ist proclamation is an essential element of his identity. Pope shows the whole Church, so the clergyand laity, as the subject of evangelization. This applies to different dimensions – pastors and faithful, men and women, families, youth, dioceses and parishes. Small communities are ascribed particular importance. At the same time the whole church and one baptized individually, regardless of vocation and function, needs continuous accepting the Gospel and converting according to the Word of God. This is not just a matter of personal or communalmorality. Francis calls the Church to pastoral conversion. It marks the first radical focus on the message of salvation. With this comes a bold revision of the customs, practices, actions taken – evaluation of their effectiveness, legitimacy in the modern world, primarily in terms of outright portraying Jesus and his message. Evangelii gaudium shows the condition of the Church, its strengths and weaknesses. It does not only present the description but also points to the way out of the crisis and multiplying the good that is the wealth of the Church. Text is expressing optimistic vision of the world, the Church, evangelization. This happens whenever baptized focus on Jesus, and developed missionary zeal leads to experiencing true joy. A brief but suggestive call the Pope Francis gives the main directions for the perception of the evangelizing and evangelized Church: ‘May we never abandon them [this is poor]’, ‘Let us not allow ourselves to be robbed of missionary enthusiasm!’, ‘Let us not allow ourselves to be robbed of the joy of evangelization!’, ‘Let us not allow ourselves to be robbed of hope!’, ‘Let us not allow ourselves to be robbed of community!’, ‘Let us not allow ourselves to be robbed of the Gospel!’, ‘Let us not stifle or presume to control this missionary power!’, ‘Let us receive the sublime treasure of the revealed word’, ‘May we never remain on the sidelinesof this march of living hope!’.

From the very beginning of the change of the political system in 1944 members of the clergy were forced to show political loyalty and willingness to cooperate with the authorities. The undertaken research leads to a conclusion that the opinion promoted by contemporary propaganda presenting attitudes among the clergy as mostly positive does not seem to be so self-evident. In the Diocese of Katowice passive, hesitant and indifferent attitudes certainly dominated. Positive attitudes were rare (mainly “priests patriots”). In the communist system resignation from openly hostile attitudes could be interpreted as rising passive resistance. 1956 only partly restricted the repressive policy of the authorities towards the clergy.

One of the main functions of a sacred song is a formation of believers’piety. Sacred song is a heritage of the Upper Silesian Church’s tradition and culture where the whole community of the people of God is singing. The sources of the sacred songs are a confirmation of this commendable tradition. This work focuses on a selected group of Upper Silesian sets of prayers and songs which were published between 1914 and 2004 in the Archdiocese (former Diocese) of Katowice. This article is a kind of continuation of the study ”Upper Silesian prayer-books up to 1914” by s. Gaudencja (Teresa Ochot).

The principle of solidarity is a key principle of social life in Catholic social teaching. It is also inherent in the culture of Europe and in the European Union documents. The extreme situations taking place in Europe allow to verify if the rule is actually applied in the solving of European problems. An important event in Europe in recent years is the war in Ukraine. Ukraine, aspiring to membership in the European Communities and associated with the European Union, has been encompassed by the principle of solidarity. Europeans living in the post-communist EU countries recognize, however, that solidarity is not the only key to solving the problem of Ukraine. Sometimes more important than solidarity seem to be the particular economic interests of the countries of the “old” EU , and solidarity remains a task to be accomplished.

The article is an attempt to refl ect on the work of Local Government in the context of the ethics of personalism. Local Government on the one hand obliges the law of the state, on the other side of the local government is a member of the community in which he lives and the thing would work.
