This article examines the concepts of hygiene and health in ancient Persia, as an inseparable part of the religious beliefs and culture of the Zoroastrians – the Ahura Mazda fire-worshippers. Key healthy guidelines, followed by the ancient Persians and health strategies, formulated within the sacred texts have been presented. This is done on the bases of Avesta, the book of the Mazdeans and of the work of scholars who lived and worked with the Zoroastrian heritage. Religious rites for purification and practical disease prevention and hygiene maintenance methods are intertwined to build the medical practices of Zoroastrian society, thus providing an exceptional public healthcare. The concepts of health and disease in ancient Persia are not exclusively characterized by the supernatural genesis theory, so typical for the early ancient communities – they also recognize natural and human factors as active agents defining those concepts. Avestan texts include detailed guidelines for the ancient Persian, aiming at preventing the risk of infectious and other diseases, while focusing on keeping the sacred elements pure and undefiled. One of the earliest four elements theory is namely Zaratustra`s – of course, fire plays the major role, but air, earth and water are also essential. All four fundamental elements define and provide human`s life, which explains their substantial place in Zoroastrian beliefs. The main hygiene and prevention guidelines are described, focusing on the two main themes in Zend Avesta – death and new life.

The Serb press and their protagonists were thus found under attack of the authorities and were sanctioned in varying ways, which is a topic explored in this paper.

As the contemporary debates on cultural taste and cultural consumption continue to develop, the term “cultural omnivore” is discussed by an increasing number of sociologists and other scholars specialising in cultural and media studies. The study’s main objective is to offer a complex set of theoretical outlines related to the notions of “cultural omnivore” and “cultural univore”. The author of the study works with the basic assumption that today’s research findings on the topic do not aim to reject Pierre Bourdieu’s influential works and theories from the 1980s but they rather revisit the issues of cultural consumption in the light of the present-day globalised society and cultural situation. Referring to various academic reflections on the given issue, the study points out that the concept of “cultural omnivore” may not be flawless and impeccable but it still represents a significant contribution to revitalisation of the knowledge on cultural consumption in the 21st century.

Based on anthropological theory on food, this research gives a brief discussion on the development direction of food civilization, analyzes the facts that people’s diet activities and eating behaviors, in the ancient Chinese society centering on the state political power, were controlled or influenced by the political ideology. It also probes the relationship between food culture and social-political traditions. Taking ‘tables’ and ‘banquets’ as the subjects, the paper introduces haute cuisine, everyday food and national dishes from the social stratification of diet. It proposes that the development of Chinese food has been influenced by the ritualized privilege system, noble traditions and application of ancient science and technology invention of cooking. It responds to Gernet’s idea of poverty stress and Kwang-Chih Chang’s idea of ethos. Through the power symbols of Chinese banquet culture, a banquet level analysis model is presented to pave a path for further empirical study.

After the Berlin Congress, which gave the Bulgarian region of Northern Dobrudja to Romania, Bucharest started making attempts to annex the rest of the region, Southern Dobrudja. So, on this basis they defined their attitude to the national liberation movement of Bulgarians in Macedonia and to the Bulgarian support for the movement.
