In the context of the world’s new order in music, artists search, negotiate, sell, and justify their importance through the power of their art and through the skill with which they attract attention to themselves. We hear ever more often of approaches to new artistic products, conventional and unconventional repertoires, to preserving and encouraging tradition or finding new ways of artistic survival, by bringing creation closer to the (increasingly limited) capacity of the uninformed audience to understand classical music works. This paper discusses the necessity to guide art pedagogy towards a new horizon that may increase the degree of relevance that artists evince on the large cultural market. The suggestions we offer stem from the conclusions of several case studies in which the alumni of Romanian conservatories detect certain flaws of their professional training when they seek employment or try to be their own managers after graduation. The material is completed by a set of interviews with managers of cultural institutions which highlight the importance of supporting new guidelines in music pedagogy.

Cinema; It is a visual interpretation of an imaginary story that emerges from the combination of art, science and technology. The posters, on the other hand, are the shortest and most striking summary of this story in which imaginary and visual elements are intertwined. In the cinema, a completely imaginary story can be told, or it can be written in realistic scenarios that directly convey the experiences. In this study, in which social realistic movie posters are the subject, movie posters reflecting social problems are discussed as content. In the study titled “Examination of social realistic movie posters in terms of design principles in Turkish cinema, the answer is sought whether these posters comply with the basic principles of graphic design. In addition, the extent to which social realistic movie posters overlap with the content of the movie has been revealed and which design techniques are used in poster design has been examined. The analysis is limited to five social realistic Turkish movie posters from the 1960s to the present. In the formation of the theoretical framework of this study, the method of "literature scanning and descriptive research" was used. Selected works were obtained from online sources. It has been observed that the techniques used in many of the posters that are the subject of the research vary according to the conditions of the period. While it is seen that some posters adhere to the principles of graphic design to a large extent, it has been observed that the same sensitivity is not observed in some studies.

Time is one of the biggest problems in human history. People with a short lifespan need more time and therefore desire to be immortal. Therefore, people develop new technologies to use time more efficiently and discuss whether machines can think like humans. Artificial intelligence, which is one of the strong examples of technological developments, pervades all areas of our lives with analytical analysis and cognitive abilities. This situation also shows itself in the field of art. In recent years, artificial intelligence has become one of the new working areas of graphic design art and provides services to consumers by using it in all areas of graphic art such as logo and web design. These studies with artificial intelligence have revealed some questions and problems by evaluating the productivity, originality and functionality of graphic design products in terms of design criteria. In addition, the graphic design works created with artificial intelligence by artists and customers have brought the designer identity into question. In this study, the effect of artificial intelligence on graphic design and designer is examined and the connection between the concepts in terms of technology is discussed.

The article explores the almost indescribable history of the famous performance Pavlinka staged in 1944 by Lev Litvinav that still is performed at the National Kupala Theatre in Minsk. Despite the ethnographic and comedy character of the performance, during the protests 2020, it became a space for the ideological struggle between the actors who left the theatre (joined the protests) and those who supported the regime. Briefly presenting the main points of this ideological campaign between two troupes of the National Kupala Theatre, the article describes the history of the play Pavlinka and as well as the biography of its director Lev Litvinav, which the author could reconstruct using archival documents, including from Litvinav’s family archive.

The article addressed the issue of using folk dance as a tool of propaganda by the communist party. It is not uncommon to associate the activity of folk groups with the period of socialist realism and the years that followed in. Folk song and dance ensembles have always been a colorful showcase of the country outside of its borders and have often added splendor to distinguished national events with their performances. Nevertheless, their artistic activity was not motivated solely by the beauty of Polish folklore, for folk ensembles formed after World War II were often created to aid the goals of the communist party. Reaching for folk repertoire and transferring regional songs and dances to the stage was seen as opposition to the elite culture. Cultural reform made performances accessible to the working class, and folk song and dance expressed admiration for the work of people in the countryside. In addition to traditional songs from various regions of Poland, the repertoire of these ensembles also included many songs in honor of Stalin and about the Polish-Soviet friendship. Paweł Pawlikowski’s award-winning film, Cold War, which partially follows a song and dance ensemble (aptly named Mazurek), shows many of the dilemmas and controversies that the artists of this period had to face.

The article The illusion of freedom. “The Truman Show” as a heterotopic panopticon presents Seahaven from Peter Weir’s The Truman Show as a structure modeled on the panopticon in the mind of Jeremy Bentham and the heterotopia described by Michel Foucault. The main goal of the text is to provide evidence for such a construction of a town and to present the meaning that this evidence carries. The subject of the analysis is the world presented in The Truman Show, in which two spaces are compared: an artificially created town – the place of the show, and the space outside the studio, from which the title program is watched by viewers from around the world. The entirety is compared to the non-film reality, taking into account social fears caused by the rapid development of media and technology at the turn of the century.

Haptic illusion and immersion is recognised as typical of 3D cinema, and the article focuses on questioning the durability of this illusion. The discourse is divided into three parts. The first part outlines the theory of haptic visuality and immersion in 3D films with the help of Miriam Ross’ concept of hyper-haptic visuality and Yong Liu’s notion of three reception-based modes of realism in a stereoscopic image. The second part introduces these ideas into the analysis of four unconventional 3D films: Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, Gaspar Noé’s Love, Takashi Miike’s Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai and Werner Herzog’s Cave of Forgotten Dreams. The third section revolves around Bi Gan’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night, which is a prime example of the consistent use of a 3D image’s immersive quality, as well as the key to understanding the potential uses of stereoscopic images in arthouse cinema.

The article concerns the virtue of sobriety understood as the ability to maintain cognitive goals despite being faced with factors that disturb it. A specifi c obstacle standing in its way is the contemporary way of experiencing time, which draws our attention toward the present and the immediate. It is especially visible within culture wars. The paper includes a polemic with Michał P. Markowski, demonstrating that considering both the virtue of sobriety and the way of experiencing time would allow us to avoid the expulsion of values from public debate — which is Markowski’s postulate. Certain positions is the contemporary humanities, specifically those that emphasisze the complexity of reality, can also be seen as challenge for those intent on practicing the virtue of sobriety.

American popular culture in the nineties gave birth to the trend of pessimistic stories set in nightmare aesthetics. Authors of the games like Sanitarium recalled the memory of historical losses and also warned about future disasters. On the one hand, Sanitarium is about the social crisis that hit the USA at the end of the millennium. On the other hand, the meaning of the whole game is filled with trust in the recovery of America’s moral strength.
