The mCOBISS mobile app was created for different types of mobile devices that run on Android or iOS operating systems. The paper presents the beginnings of app development, the different versions and software updates, statistical data on the current use and our plans for the future. The link to COBISS+ and other modules within the COBISS system is presented along with the app functionality that provides an excellent user experience. One uniform mCOBISS app for all COBISS.XX systems was created in 2019 and sped up and simplified the development, maintenance and distribution. In all COBISS.net countries, the mCOBISS app already runs on Android mobile devices, whereas it is planned in mid-2020 to make it accessible also to all iOS devices.

This paper attempts to explore the use of internet by LIS professionals of India for providing library support services during the crisis of COVID-19. For this purpose, an online questionnaire was designed using Google forms and sent to Indian Listserv ‒ ILOSC, NMLIS, LIS-Forum, and SALIS. Th e study fi nds that the majority of the LIS (Library and Information Science) professionals are providing library support services during the crisis of COVID-19 pandemic. Th e study also fi nds that LIS professionals were using all sorts of internet based communication tools even before the onset of COVID-19 pandemic. Th is seems to have helped the Indian LIS professionals in delivering services to the users. Th e study emphasizes further development and improvement of internet based communication tools for handling similar crisеs arising in the future.

The paper explores activities of public libraries under changed conditions caused by the official announcement of the infectious disease COVID-19 pandemic, paying special attention to the work of the Public Library Bor during the lockdown and afterwards. Public libraries worldwide had to find a way to continue their work and to overcome fears, confronting contradictory information, as well as to make, often alone, hard decisions of what services to offer and how to deliver materials to users. Libraries were deciding on options ranging from minimal restrictions to the total lockdown. On the other hand, library users had to turn to online sources of information and services in order to satisfy their needs and interests, so that the paper also explores the effects of these new working conditions on the usage of digitized materials and virtual library services. The conclusion is that libraries should carefully evaluate their possibilities and resources, adjusting their services and programs to what people need the most. As the course of the pandemic is constantly changing, libraries need to focus on improving their virtual offers and finding the way to do so with minimum and tolerable expenses, having in mind that many public libraries in Serbia have already faced budget reductions and cuttings.

Beginning with the last decades of the 20th century, we are able to observe a continuous proliferation of all the theories connected with the large domain of communicational sciences. In order to clarify the content of this quite new domain, a lot of scholars – linguists, sociologists, philosophers, psychologists – tried and succeded in building interesting theories on this matter. Among them Shanon, Derrida, Ricoeur, Jakobson, Sartre, Heidegger and Umberto Ecco tried to give us genuine definitions of the process of human communications and also to emphasize the best conditions of a more eficient communications. As a result of these analyses they have stated the communication theory as the best way of explaining the relationships and communication between people.We consider that the most important aspect of this process of communication is the quality of information. We must understand communication as a special way of social interaction, as a personal expression that emphasize the relation between transmitter and receiver, because a process like this involves individuals or groups who have to concentrate upon the spreading of information. More than that, the researchers consider that communication between at least two speakers involves many conditions: the use of a common language; communicational experience; the existence of favourable conditions.

As the title suggests here is given an insight into printing technology’s development from Gutenberg to the modern day. Beginning is with the book printing press of Johannes Gutenberg to present day book printings. Afterwards is presented the deep press – copper press from the end of the 15th century till present times. Following are plate techniques of printing from stone printing to wet printing and today’s dry offset. Also described here are flexi printing and screen printing. Amongst the digital techniques here the most important: electro photography and inkjet are briefly presented. There then follows the presentation of hybrid techniques. Hologram printing is barely mentioned at the end a presentation is given to today’s new and quite well spread technique of lenticular printing.

With an insight into the library of Professor Ante Glavičić, which is a property of his successor, it has been found out that the library contains 553 monographs and 98 periodic publications. In the library, there are a large number of guides of different museums, galleries, catalogues of exhibitions, city maps and guides of the towns on the Adriatic Sea and in Istria and their tourist publications as well as important cartographic documents of Senj, Croatian Coastland (Primorje) and Velebit. The analyses of this collection according to the scientific disciplines showed that the majority of the books are of archaeology, history, ethnography and it contains basic experts-scientific literature of the mentioned subjects. One part is related to the cultural history of Senj and its surroundings.The library represents a good overview of printing in Croatia in the 19th and 20 centuries. From this period it can be seen the importance of printers/editors and bookshops for cultural heritage of Croatia in the cities Zagreb, Karlovac, Senj and Pula and the importance of Senj and its printers is especially noticed during this period.The library has all the elements of the regional collection because it gathers the material about Senj, people from Senj and those materials which were printed in Senj and other cities. Highlights of this collection are the regional newspapers of the town of Senj and its surroundings. These kinds of magazines and newspapers contain 13 titles and Professor A. Galvičić was the one who initiated the publication of some of them.

Virtual reality creates interactive audio-visual environments designed for multiple users. Virtual reality stems from industrial and military visual simulation, developed in the late 1980s, when it was applied to training simulations and supporting fast prototypes for industrial production. This paper explores the different methods of mixed reality, augmented reality and virtual reality, through examples of palaces in the urban core of Skopje and worldwide examples. Through the simulation methods that the mixed reality offers, the user is introduced into the simulation itself allowing for real interaction. The purpose of this paper is to emphasize the possibilities of virtual reality and its use as a medium for knowledge transfer and dissemination of cultural memory. Virtual legacy includes a range of functions facilitating synthesis, conservation, reproduction, digital processing and display of cultural evidence using advanced VR technologies. Digitization of Skopje's cultural heritage buildings from the early 20th century presents a digital method of reviving "captured" data and their interactive presentation. The focus of this paper is on architectural residential buildings, whose projects as part of Skopje's cultural heritage were created in the first half of the 20th century, objects that no longer exist due to the 1963 earthquake, and the revival of memory for them through various forms of digitalisation as virtual promotion.

This paper presents a set of tools necessary for creating a functional digital library. It is used in four libraries in the Republic of Serbia: Belgrade City Library, City Library “Vladislav Petković Dis” in Čačak, Public Library “Milutin Bojić” in Belgrade, and Pirot Public Library. An effective digital library contains standardized metadata, a text search function, a fast and intuitive web interface, and a metadata filter. The ResCarta Toolkit contains all the necessary components to quickly and efficiently create a functional digital library, from metadata input to a web application presenting digital objects. The tools are presented in the order of use.

The University Library “Svetozar Marković” established its first digital repository in 2008, which enabled the creation of a primary collection of digital material and provided users with access to valuable content by scanning materials from the Library's collection and creating images in JPG and PDF formats. Shortly afterward, the Library became actively involved in various international cultural heritage digitization projects that enabled it to present its treasure to users from around the world. It was the beginning of the second phase of digitization, characterized by the formation of the first searchable digital newspaper collection in 2015. The third, and so far the last, phase of digitalization represented the beginning of the process of digital democracy, which primarily included the expansion of available digital content in cooperation with other cultural and scientific institutions in the country. These activities resulted in the creation of the portal called Searchable Digital Library. In addition to saving resources, time, money, and increasing the quality of library services, the association with other institutions also contributes to the promotion of authentic content, thus increasing the visibility of libraries’ local history collections.

Aligned multilingual corpora have become essential resources in multilingual Natural Language Processing (NLP) in the last decades, as well as one of the major resources for researchers in various areas of linguistics and related language disciplines. Parallel corpora are language corpora that contain a collection of one or more original texts in one language and their translations into one or more other languages. Original texts and their translations are aligned at some level of text divisions (e.g. sentence, paragraph, and chapter level). In most cases, parallel corpora contain texts in only two languages but also there are examples of one-language parallel corpora containing a collection of different editions of the same text in one language. In Serbia, JeRTeh, Language Resources and Technologies Society (former Group for Language Technologies) has been developing parallel corpora containing Serbian texts for decades.

Integrating evidence from a single sensor over time is becoming more common due to the Internet of Things (IoT). It can play a critical role in Heritage site monitoring, as networks of sensors are required to catalog and analyze data over extended periods of time. Researchers have often adopted the mechanisms used for multi-source integration, such as Bayesian conditioning and Dempster-Shafer reasoning. Research in human cognitive models provides an interesting alternative insights for accumulating evidence over time. We used this research as a foundation for the current approach which integrates the set theoretic nature of Dempster-Shafer theory with an estimation structure based on Kalman filtering. It is well suited for applications to Wide-area Sensor Networks (WSN) that are commonly found in heritage sites.

A clear line of what is expected from AI and what AI is, must be drawn so that the trust, acceptance and adoption of AI can be increased. This paper talks about using hand movements for the operations of electrical equipment at home. With the use of the much-advanced algorithms - 3D-CNN and ResNet50 to increase the accuracy in detecting the hand gesture to correctly predict the right motion for the functioning of the electrical device. Eventually, the project focuses on the comparative study between different architectures so that we can determine the best-suited model for these kinds of image detection. We aim to bring about a good accurate model for detecting the hand signals.

Support Vector Machines are a widely used tool in Machine Learning. They have some important advantages with regards to the more popular Deep Neural Networks. For the problem of image classification, multiple SVMs may be used and the issue of finding the best hyperparameters adds additional complexity and increases the overall computational time required. Our goal is to develop and study Monte Carlo algorithms that allow faster discovery of good hyperparameters and training of the SVMs, without impacting negatively the final accuracy of the models. We also employ GPUs and parallel computing in order to achieve good utilisation of the capabilities of the available hardware. In this paper we describe our methods, provide implementation details and show numerical results, achieved on the publicly available Architectural Heritage Elements image Dataset.

Cultural heritage is a priceless asset for humanity, as it shows our achievements throughout the ages. Rapidly developing technologies and tools provide new opportunities in the process of preserving the cultural heritage. That process includes searching, research, identification, documentation, registration, conservation, restoration and adaptation of cultural-historic objects and resources. It is very important to include children in this process, to increase their awareness, stimulate their willingness to participate in its preservation and develop their affiliation with the values of the pan-European cultural heritage. Access to these resources, however, is not always possible or suitable for kids that are increasing their national identity and patriotism. That brings the need of developing new and different tools and methods for presenting digital cultural assets to a wider and more diverse audience and using them for educational purposes. In this article we describe a software component for Virtual Reality simulations and using them to present cultural-historic content to kids. We also demonstrate a three-dimensional lesson, taught in the web browser, which includes a collection of 3D objects for simulating the authentic room of the Bulgarian revolutionary Vasil Levski.
