Knowledge Management: A Tool and Technology for Organizational Success

Author(s): Sidharta Chatterjee,Samanta Mousumi / Language(s): English / Issue: 1(3)/2023

Keywords: knowledge management; organizational learning; knowledge management tools; organizational success;

Knowledge is a productive resource having successful applications in almost every field and domain of human activities. With unprecedented growth in knowledge resources and explosion in data, such informative resources need effective organization for storage and efficient retrieval for future uses. The entire process involving organization, storage, and dissemination of knowledge falls under the auspices of knowledge management. Thus, Knowledge Management is an organizational practice. In this research paper, we provide a general outline of some of the tools and technologies deployed in managing knowledge across organizations. We believe that the practice of knowledge management - though considered to be a process - it is also a "method" by which organizations are able to management their knowledge and human resources. On this regard, this paper contributes to our further understanding of what organizational knowledge is, and how they should be proficiently managed that would contribute to organizational success.

CAMOUFLAGING AND AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Author(s): Ajla Bukva,Daria Zečević / Language(s): English / Issue: 5/2023

Keywords: autism spectrum disorder; autism; camouflaging; sex/gender differences; mental health;

In order to fit into the environment, satisfy social norms, and increase the opportunities of creating successful interpersonal interactions, individuals with autism spectrum disorder (hereinafter referred to as ASD) often try to develop coping strategies, and one such strategy is camouflaging. Camouflaging can be seen as a way in which individuals try to hide the less desirable aspects of their personality. The aim of this review was to determine the sex/gender differences in the representation of camouflaging in individuals with ASD by reviewing the relevant literature, to determine the impact of camouflaging on mental health, as well as the reasons and consequences of the camouflaging. By searching the SCOPUS database and after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria for publications in the field of autism spectrum disorder and camouflaging, a total of 10 publications were included and analyzed in the current review. Results show that individuals of the female sex/gender with ASD report higher levels of camouflaging compared to individuals of the male sex/gender with ASD. In addition to the above, it has been found that camouflaging is associated with mental health challenges. The results showed that individuals of the female sex/gender with ASD were more supportive of conventional reasons than individuals of the male sex/ gender with ASD. The results of research on the consequences of camouflaging show that people with ASD who camouflage themselves most often feel unhappy because they perceive camouflaging their true identity and personality as lying and deceiving about who they really are. Also, research indicates that thanks to camouflaging, individuals with ASD did not encounter the stereotype of “autistic person”, however, this caused negative consequences such as delaying or questioning their diagnosis of ASD, especially in individuals of female sex/gender with ASD.

HOW TO BE A FRIEND?

HOW TO BE A FRIEND?

Author(s): Jasmina Kos_Jasmina / Language(s): English / Issue: 5/2023

Keywords: difficulty; disability; primary school children; ignorance; discomfort;

In Croatia, every twelfth child (0-19 years old) grows up with a developmental disability (CDD), one of seven adults is a person with a disability (PWD). Although the majority of citizens know, and a quarter of them often meet CDD and PWD, ignorance and discomfort are noticeable, as well as mistakes in everyday encounters despite good intentions. Every seventh 4th grade elementary school student thinks he/she can or is not sure if he/she can become deaf if he/she plays with a deaf child. More than a quarter of them would do what they assume is helping a blind person, without asking them if and what kind of help they need, and more than half of their parents would not communicate with a blind person in a situation that directly concerns them. The readiness of parents for their children to socialize with children with developmental disabilities decreases as the closeness and intensity of socializing increases. This was shown by the Creative Backbone Center research conducted on 582 respondents - 4th grade elementary school students and their parents, from 11/2022. until 04/2023. Less than a third of parents say that they know how to communicate with PWDs, but more than 90% of them claim that they have explained to their child how to do it. Only half of the children remembered that conversation. Numerous studies confirm that the chances of creating an inclusive society are greatest if the building of attitudes begins at an early stage of education when positive exposure changes negative attitudes in a short time and builds desirable attitudes. Students in the lower grades of elementary schools in Croatia are somewhat informed about PWDs through classes, but the problem is the application of the information obtained, which should be given much more attention.

STORYTELLING METHOD AS A MARKETING COMMUNICATION TOOL IN THE TOURISM INDUSTRY

Author(s): Slobodová Zuzana / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2023

Keywords: tourism; tourist guide; marketing communication; storytelling;

In today's rapid era of globalisation and internationalisation, it is necessary to respond to new challenges and to introduce new methods, products and trends if individual sectors (not only) of the economy want to maintain or improve their position on the domestic and foreign market and increase their ability to compete economically with others. In our view, it is the introduction of new, creative methods that is one of the ways to increase the attractiveness of the product on offer. A compelling method in this context is storytelling. In our article, we concluded that this method is an effective way of increasing customer interest. Storytelling conveys a purpose, a goal, stories can engage the listener and arouse attention and curiosity. In tourism, it is not enough to have a product or a destination. The story gives the offer a certain context, a reason for customers to buy your product or use your service. The aim of our paper is to characterise the storytelling method as a marketing communication tool in tourism. In order to reach relevant conclusions, we used the method of analysis, synthesis, literature study, exemplification and generalisation.

Empirical Research on Financial Efficiency and Economic Growth in Sub-Saharan Africa

Author(s): Ayine Nigo,Vincent Gibogwe / Language(s): English / Issue: 1(3)/2023

Keywords: foreign direct investment; economic growth; absorptive capacity; human capital; market liberalization;

This study contributes to the literature on financial efficiency and growth. Given the increase in domestic credit, we show evidence of the effects of controlling institutional variables. The domestic credit is adverse, with an insignificant effect on per capita income growth. We make two observations from our findings. First, the negative but insignificant coefficients of the measure of bank credit across all model specifications seem to go against the supply-leading hypothesis, as financial development hurts economic growth; nevertheless, given that the impact is insignificant, this draws more into a neutrality hypothesis of no effect. Second, the findings are likely indications of the underdeveloped state of sub-Saharan Africa's financial system, implying that the present state of the financial systems is not robust enough to be a contributory drive towards enhancing economic growth in the region. However, all models have positive control variables (Inflation and gross fixed capital formation). All coefficients of interactions between credit and institutional quality are statistically insignificant (negative in four of six models).

The Impact of Investments on Economic Growth: Evidence from Tajikistan

Author(s): Mubinzhon Abduvaliev / Language(s): English / Issue: 1(3)/2023

Keywords: foreign direct investments; economic growth; Tajikistan;

The aim of this paper is to assess the effect of foreign direct investment on economic growth in Tajikistan. Using annual time series data for 2005 to 2021, the study reveals a relationship between foreign direct investment and per capita GDP growth in Tajikistan. Based on the analysis of the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), it has been found that these variables have a long-term relationship. The residuals of the regressions showed no autocorrelation in the post-estimation diagnostic tests performed to determine the validity of the VECM model. Furthermore, our findings suggest that improving the institutional quality of the country complements the improvement of the investment climate and results in significant increases in foreign direct investment inflows.

Assessment of the Experiences of Higher Education Institution on Online Learning: The Case of Some Selected Institutions

Author(s): Aderajew Mihret Tessema,Laura Nicola-Gavrilă / Language(s): English / Issue: 1(3)/2023

Keywords: online learning; higher learning institutions; digital content; learning management system, MOODLE (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment);

Thanks to COVID-19, e-learning has become one of the platforms for the teaching-learning activity in Ethiopia. Many high schools and higher institutions tried to manage to not disrupt the academic calendar by providing learning materials, mainly focusing on contents and exercises, via an electronic platform, Telegram. E-learning, also referred to as online learning, is an educational technological tool embracing self-motivation, communication, efficiency, and technology and it is becoming the default of 5th generation of Distance Education. In online learning, active engagements of the learner and the instructor are expected while the teaching-learning process is going on. The engagement can be either using off video text exchanging or video conferencing on platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, MOODLE, etc. This study was designed to assess the experiences of selected HEIs (American College of Technology, Yardstick International College, ET Online College, and Unity University) in their establishing phase of the online learning program. Structured interview questions were forwarded to the principals of the institutions to get answers to the research questions which were framed from the rubrics of HERQA. The study found out that ‘digital contents’ seemed to be lacking the attributes which are ascribed by the experts of the field.

The Potential of ICT Tools for Achieving Better Achievement in Learning English for Specific Purposes in the Context of Hybrid Learning

Author(s): Doloris Bešić-Vukašinović,Snežana Bešić / Language(s): English / Issue: 1(3)/2023

Keywords: students’ achievement; ICT tools; hybrid learning; vocabulary learning; English for specific purpose;

Educational technology as an interdisciplinary field whose subject of study is the effective use of modern technology in education is very significant when we talk about changes within the educational system. Bearing in mind that educational technology includes both means and procedures used in the teaching and learning process, the goal of its application is to increase the efficiency of the teaching process itself, as well as student achievement in learning. The paper is based on the assumption that the application of ICT tools in the teaching ESP has the potential to contribute to the success of students in mastering the desired material. The research subject of this paper is the examination of the impact of the application of information and communication technologies in teaching on the learning ESP vocabulary at the academic level in the context of hybrid learning. With the aim of examining the mentioned impact, a survey was conducted on a convenient sample of 50 first-year students of the Faculty of Business Studies and Law and the Faculty of Information Technology and Engineering, UNION University "Nikola Tesla" in Belgrade. The obtained results are contrary to our expectations that teaching organized with the help of ICT will lead to a significant progress of the experimental group compared to the control group on the knowledge retest and indicate that although teaching generally leads to progress in the achievement of students of both groups, the use of ICT in teaching, in the way it was performed in this research makes no difference in terms of that progress.

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in examining the relationship between tourism and sustainable development. For firms to act friendly against the environment, competition authorities must provide them with the appropriate legal certainty they need to make the necessary investments towards sustainability. Also, energy intensity flows must be kept up more closely since the empirical results point out its substantially positive contribution in terms of air pollution Therefore, policy implications should be strengthened towards more installation of renewable energy and a convergence of environmental policies towards more efficient energy use among EU countries. Energy intensity flows must be kept up more closely since the empirical results point out its substantially positive contribution in terms of air pollution.

Related capital groups are considered to include, among others, Venture Capital (VC) or Private Equity (PE) funds. An effective process of selection of investments in portfolio companies is one of the main factors of successful investment. This article presents the application and usefulness of new technologies in decision-making and investment management by related Private Equity capital groups, by an analysis case studies. The goal of this work is to answer the following research questions: Is it possible to reduce the human factor risk in investment decisions of related PE capital groups? How can automation facilitate the selection of enterprises in the investment process? Apart from the analysis of available literature and studies, the author presents case studies covering analysis of available documents and results of interviews with certain companies that are related Private Equity capital groups. Using exclusively automation in the selection of enterprises seems risky and is not completely reliable however without any doubt there are some advantages of using that like pre-screening suggestions or support to final investment decisions. Case studies prove also that automated process of portfolio companies selection works only when the acquisition objects have been existing on the market for only a short time. It is recommended to carry out statistical research on a larger research sample in order to confirm initial conclusions.

TWO DIMENSIONS OF SEEING GABRIEL MARCEL’S PHILOSOPHY AND THE EXISTENTIAL AND ANTHROPOLOGICAL BACKGROUND OF SYNODALITY

TWO DIMENSIONS OF SEEING GABRIEL MARCEL’S PHILOSOPHY AND THE EXISTENTIAL AND ANTHROPOLOGICAL BACKGROUND OF SYNODALITY

Author(s): Aleksander Bańka / Language(s): English / Issue: 2/2022

Keywords: Synodality; Christianity; existence; seeing; faith; cognition; experience;

The concept of “synodality” has become very popular in recent theological debates. Not only does it bring many new highlights to the already classic discourse on the nature of the Church, but it also makes it possible to raise important questions about her future. Moreover, as a mode of dialogue and discernment in the Church—a style of “journeying together” of the People of God—synodality also invites refl ection on the subject of that journey, i.e., on contemporary man and his place in the ecclesial community. Not without reason, what constitutes an important aspect of synodality is also anthropological refl ection, at the centre of which stands the idea of homo viator (the journeying man, the pilgrim): the idea which also lies at the centre of the philosophical creed developed by the great Christian existentialist Gabriel Marcel. The relationship between these two perspectives—the existential and anthropological contexts of synodality and Marcel’s metaphysics of hope—is not accidental. This article aims to show that the two perspectives in question entail two essential types of insight, existential and spiritual seeing, which can and should complement each other. What is more, it seems that their fruitful meeting could result not only in a renewal of the Christian thinking about man, which is needed today, but also in a better recognition of the directions which the Church of the future should follow while seeking space for the diffi cult dialogue with the modern world.
