Summary/Abstract: In the sixties the Securitate and the party leaders found out and realized the immense prestige that Eliade enjoyed in U.S. They understood that externally, it was more useful the redeeming of Eliade to improve Romania’s image than ignoring him. Thus they developed a plan in this respect that provided the following: the reintegration and the reconsideration of the writer in the Romanian literature, the granting of various degrees, the establishment of contacts with him in the U.S. through intelectuals sent from Romania or Embassy members, interviews, all of this just to lure him back in the country.
