Summary/Abstract: This article presents a review of the literature on the condition of forest stands in Poland, taking into account research on European forests. The most important meteorological, biological, geological-soil and anthropogenic factors influencing the condition of forest stands are presented. The methods and spatial distribution of research areas in Poland in the last twenty years were also presented.
