Summary/Abstract: Protestant Reformation fueled important changes in Sixteenth-Century Europe, with each state reacting in a different way to the new religious movement. In France, the teachings of Luther, Zwingli, and then Calvin affected the Catholic population both religiously and socially, believers witnessing both their faith and their lifestyle being threatened. The present study provides a brief account of the way in which the expansion of French Protestantism affected two of the essential coordinates of the religious life of the Catholic population: the Holy Mass and the worship of saints.
