Summary/Abstract: Jules Verne's art expresses, through the fictional illusion, the wish to know and use the geographical and scientific discoveries for the advantage of human progress. His novels, "Les Voyages Extraordinaires", contain many guarantees of credibility for obtaining the verisimilitude , the sensation of truth: geographical and historical data, the presentation of geographic discoveries and famous journeys, informations about plants, animals, natural riches, climate, specific to most areas on the globe, technical details about the functioning of new (for those times) means of transport on air, water, earth etc. The formula that contains the essence of his work, belonging to his editor, Hetzel is; "is the instruction that amuses, the amusement that instructs".
