Summary/Abstract: In this paper we will analyze the relationship between the church and the state in Serbia from democratization in 1990 until 2018. Firstly, we will provide analyses of the period 1990 - 2000 and the government of the Socialist Party of Serbia, followed by the study of the period 2000 - 2012 and the government of the Democratic opposition of Serbia in various coalitions, and finally the period from 2012 until present time, during the government of the Serbian Progressive Party and a broad coalition. We aimed to establish the quality of the relationship between church and state during these periods, and in what particular point in time the relationship was most successful. The issue was analyzed chronologically over three time periods and through two forms of state in which Serbia existed: the Socialistic Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Socialistic Republics of Serbia and Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia.
