Summary/Abstract: In this paper we explain the cultural differences through the six models of the authors Kluckhohn and Strodtbeck, Hall, Hofstede, Trompenar, Schwartz and House. They emphasize different aspects of social beliefs, norms and values because they rely on different scientific disciplines and are inspired by different research and practical problems. We focus on the question of the role of context in intercultural communication with all its components - location, time, interlocutors involved and their personal characteristics, non-verbal communication, conversation topics etc. We inevitably concentrate on the two contrasts according to Hall, the low-context cultures that rely on explicit communication and the high-context cultures that rely more on the interpretation of elements outside the text / message (Hall, 1976). The aim is to make a substantial distinction between high and low context cultures.
