Summary/Abstract: The critical discourse on the Italian modernist canon analyses the role and place of the poems of the crepuscular poets in the context of the paradigm shift that occurred at the beginning of the twentieth century. This article aims to demonstrate that, through the new themes proposed and the methods of interpreting the crises and ruptures that had existentially defined modern man, the crepusculars are truly the first poets whose work can be legitimately said to introduce a modernist canon in Italian literature.
