Summary/Abstract: The article acquaints the reader with the origin and content of the term social solidarity economy and briefly presents current worldwide and Czech activities aimed at spreading awareness of the social solidarity economy. The authors present it as a concept capable of providing basic needs on a sustainable basis and of contributing to social cohesion and environmental resilience.
