THE MULTICONFESSIONALISM OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AS A COMPARATIVE ADVANTAGE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF (RELIGIOUS) TOURISM - THE EXAMPLE OF NOVI SAD

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the concept of multiconfessionalism as a factor and agens in thedevelopment of (religious) tourist offer of local communities, on the example of cooperationbetween the City of Novi Sad and the Jewish municipality. Whether multiconfessionalismis recognized institutionally as a potential comparative advantage in the developmentof Novi Sad as a tourist destination, is a key research issue, and the answer, based on asociological analysis, is sought in conversation with various factors that influence thedevelopment of the tourist offer of a destination, in this case Novi Sad, as well as in theanalysis of a lot of relevant literature. The results of the research were presented througha case study that discusses the „opening” of the door of the Novi Sad Synagogue fortourists and the impact that institutional recognition of multiconfessionalism can havewhen the development of tourism is in question.
