Animals as Narrators in the Hungarian Prose of Transylvania

Summary/Abstract: Following a review of the world literature, the paper analyzes from the perspective of ecocriticism and that of the direction called Animal Turn some Hungarian works from Transylvania that present animals in the position of narrators. The narrator’s theme is approached following the aesthetic and ethical effects of the reception of the novels Zátony (Stumbling) by Lóránd Daday written in 1930 and of contemporary works written by Zsuzsa Selyem: Moszkvában esik (It’s Raining in Moscow. The Story of a Deportation), novel published in 2016, and the short story from 2019 A kemény vízen át a hold (Moon Th rough Rigid Water).
