Summary/Abstract: Learned helplessness theory gained popularity because: researches are easily replicated both on lab animals and on humans (by using the ASQ); it is an essential subject for psychology (learning theory, neuropsychology and attribution theory); and it can be applied in a variety of human problems such as depression, cancer, poor school performance, abused women etc. We describe the Attributional Style Questionnaire for the Romanian population, which measures individual differences in the attributional dimensions. We report means, standard deviations, confirmatory factor analysis, intercorrelations, and test-retest reliability for a sample of 241 participants. Finally the issue of validity is discussed. Over all the results of our adaptation study suggest that the ASQ can be used a reliable instrument in a Romanian setting.
