Summary/Abstract: This article is an introduction to Confusion of the Tongues Between the Adults and the Child – TheLanguage of Tenderness and of Passion by Sándor Ferenczi – one of the most important publica-tions in the entire history of the Freudian movement. The author pays particular attention to the ana-lyst’s attempt to reinterpret Freudian doctrine and his desire to create a revelatory model of psycho-analytic therapy. The article starts from the conflict between Freud and his close collaborator grow-ing since 1930 and points to one of the sources of criticism of the authoritarian, omniscient attitude of the psychoanalyst towards the analyzed patient, as well as to the gradual formation of the human-istic ideal in psychoanalytic theory and practice.
