From Emotional to Relational History of Knowledge

Summary/Abstract: The article is an introduction to the emotional history of knowledge that in recent years has been developed within French anthropology, sociology, and the history of science. The author reflects on Françoise Waquet’s work entitled Une histoire émotionnelle du savoir. XVIIe-XXIe siècle (The emotional history of knowledge. XVII–XXI century) published in 2019, and analyzes it in a broad context of the interdisciplinary reflection on the history of knowledge and science. The aim of this article is to reflect on Waquet’s most important arguments and to contrast them with other propositions emerging in the field of the history of science.
