Summary/Abstract: As a librarian, the author of this paper is dealing with Boethius’ ‘Deconsolation philosophiae’, starting with three incunabula from the Brukenthal Museum Library, and continuing with medieval manuscripts of the book widespread in other libraries. The author interest is also focused on Boethius – his era, the political framework, and his tragic destiny – as well as on the importance of the book throughout the centuries.
