Summary/Abstract: The identity issue is one of the most fundamental research fields for sociology and political science. In this context, the third generation of Turks with a migration background is subject of this investigation in both national and international studies. It is known that migration to Germany started after the Second World War in order to satisfy the demand for industrial labour force. As a result, the Federal Republic of Germany signed between 1955 and 1968 inter-governmental agreements with eight Mediterranean countries (with Turkey in 1961 and 1964). This article focuses on the identity problems of the third migrant generation of Turks in Germany and emphasizes the questions of equality, sovereignty and the sense of belonging. It formulates some suggestions as well.
