Summary/Abstract: The author’s travel notes mingle personal experiences with facts about the Fall of the Iron Curtain and the mutual discovery of the two worlds formerly separated by conflicting political systems. While Lithuania opens up towards Europe, the western countries acknowledge its existence more or less reluctantly. Cultural exchanges are inevitable. The author’s eye goes deeper than the daily existence of the various Scandinavian peoples and ethnic groups, highlighting also important historical and cultural references.
