Summary/Abstract: Recalling their first meting, the two authors sketch the landscape of an epoch marred by communism, with its apanache of victims and executioners, fears, blackmails and delations, moral resistance, that marked more or less their journey through life. Their dialogue tackle also aspects regarding literature that mirrors or distorts reality, the intellectuals’ delusion regarding communism, post-communist literature, private versus public life. Two destinies that very often have crisscrossed each other’s paths bringing each its own stock of experiences in consolidating a long friendship.
