Not only GDP. Alternative development indicators

Summary/Abstract: Gross domestic product is a measure of the size of the economy, describing the total value of goods and services produced. In public debate, it is sometimes treated as information not only about the volume of production, but also about the welfare of society. However, due to its basic assumptions and the way it is constructed, GDP cannot fulfil this function. Therefore, other indicators are used to measure the well-being and standard of living of citizens.
