Summary/Abstract: Transport (both infrastructure and services) can be an essential factor of sustainable development of a region. The effects of transport development for a region can be direct and indirect. From the point of view of the needs of sustainable development, it is important to create such a transportation system which will allow to achieve not only economic goals but also social and ecological ones. The authors of the paper proposed a very simplified and general model of direct and indirect effects of the development of a transport system of a region and their influence on its economic, social and ecological development. The model includes system relations.
